The Vibe: 1215 Wine and Coffee Lab is yet another exposed brick hideaway on Vine Street with an old church pew lining one wall, old (but real!) white roses on every table, and a sprawling chalkboard describing your beverage choices. Women cozied up with their pals in thick sweaters with three or four glasses of red wine, the rims stained with plum and scarlet lip stick. A couple guys in college hoodies debated over two open Macbooks, a few older couples talked quietly over their coffees and pastry, and a six year old excitedly counted to ten for a group of bearded and tattooed men with IPAs. In all, the crowd was older than your typical bar and calm enough that people felt they could study.
Style Profile: Women were casual and comfortable, wearing dark or neutral tones. A few women dared horn-rimmed glasses and red lips, like vintage ornaments at the corners of the bar. Sweaters were popular with soft, pastel scarves to burrow into as their eyes scanned a book. Men were in the standard plaid button ups and almost all of them rocked ironic facial hair.
Must order: 1215 Wine and Coffee Lab obviously specializes in vino and caffeine. You can share a bottle of wine for as little as $9, plus a corking fee.
Must do: I would say 1215 Wine and Coffee Lab isn’t exactly the place to have a rager, despite the great deals on bottles of wine. Gather your girlfriends for a couple of glasses of wine until you get giggly or bring a book for a date with yourself and a cup of spicy Mexican coffee.
Must Know: The mood here is definitely more serious, so it’s more of a place to caffeinate before you hit the late-night bars.
