I have pretty wide feet. By pretty wide, I mean Wily Coyote and I might possibly be distant cousins. (Image via Houston Press)
Gnarly.
This being said, sometimes when I buy shoes, I buy them a size bigger with the hopeful assumption that they will magically shrink by the next time I put them on. You know, get a visit from the Shoe Fairy, the Tooth Fairy's lesser known but far more helpful sister.
I am here to share a solution to you, my fellow wide foot comrades. Take a pair of shoes that feel a big too snug and place a gallon size plastic bag full of water inside each shoe. (Image via Shopping Obsession Blog)
Use two bags as a precaution so you avoid mopping water up from all over the floor. Here comes the weird part and also quite possibly an awkward breakfast conversation with your mom in the morning. Stick the shoes in the freezer overnight. (Image via Ripped Laces)
I was just looking for frozen strawberries to make a smoothie…
The water turns to ice and ice is stronger than most shoes. (Useful science facts they DIDN'T teach you in High School.) The ice will force the shoe to expand. In the morning pull them out of the freezer and they will fit! As an added bonus tip, you can also stick shoes in the freezer to eliminate odor.
