4 Step DIY Statement (Ear)Ring

This DIY works, but I will be checking back in to polish one step--so that means it will be a little longer.

Along the same lines of our "Sparkle Shoes," this DIY is a quick fix. It isn't meant to be an artisan craft. It's an easy fix for a special night out and the beginnings of being a real "DIY-er".

Here's what you will need:

  • An old earring or ornate button, yes you can do this with a button
  • Adjustable ring bands
  • E600 Glue/Adhesive
  • Wire Cutters
  • Q-Tips

1. Cut the backing off your earring. This may leave a little bump, but the E600 will fuse the earring on with no wiggle. However, I am working on how to make this more step smoother.

2. Adjust your ring band. It's easier to create a "cross" with your fingers and simultaneously pinch.

3. Apply a small amount of E600 on the earring. It is extremely runny. This is where the q-tips come in. Oh and note, the adhesive is potent in both smell and apparently chemical. Be very careful to handle this E600 in a secure area where no pets are and place a mat on your work station. Keep it far away from your face...the vapors are hazardous.

4. Place the earring on the ring and then flip it over, so that the band is facing upward and the earring is resting on the mat/table/surface. Use a prop to lean the ring against and wait for it to set. Let it set for the night or at least 3 hours.

Voila, your very own $10 ring. Perfectly fit and matched to your outfit or style.
