Throughout the winter I was a candle hoarder. Actually, every season I am a candle hoarder. I absolutely love burning them and making the place smell like a home.
The fun stops after you kill the wick and you look around at tons of empty glass jars. If you are like me, you let them accumulate. Why? Both laziness and eco-awareness. Something about throwing out glass sounds messy and unnecessary. Painful for both you and Mother Nature. But, just as painful: staring at them.
So, I Pinterested the best way to clean out these jars and use them for everything from extra glasses, to make up holders, specialty cases and extra decor.
Worst Method: Freezing. Doesn't work. I don't care who tries to tell you the wax pops right out. They lie.
Best Method: Boiling water in a sauce pan and then putting the glass jar in the water. You don't need to wait until all of the wax is liquified. Allow the wax touching the sides of the jar to melt, shake the jar a little and make sure the remaining hard wax is floating.
Grab your mitt, pour it out and voila. Now, there is going to be a gum or glue attaching the metal wick holder to the jar. Try to scoop it out with the a spoon. Let the dishwasher clean up any excess goop.
